No, Matheson Memorial Library provides this service free of charge.
Do I need to have a library card in order to take a proctored exam at the library?
No, Matheson Memorial Library does not require a library card to take a test at our location.
Who do I contact about exam proctoring?
Lindsay Barnes, the Technical Services Librarian, is in charge of exam proctoring. Please contact her via email: lbarnes@elkhorn.lib.wi.us or call us at (262) 723-2678 to discuss your proctored test and any necessary paperwork your school requires.
How does exam proctoring work?
Each school has their own set of requirements for exam proctoring. It is the student’s responsibility to check with their school about these requirements, and submit any necessary paperwork needed to authorize the library as a testing location. Once all of your school’s requirements have been met and your exam has arrived at the library, the proctor will contact you to schedule a time for you to take the exam.
What is the scheduling availability?
All tests must be scheduled with the proctor in advance, and will be scheduled during the proctor’s regular work hours. Since the Technical Services Librarian proctors almost all exams, this typically includes Monday thru Friday during the day, as well as Wednesday evening.
What do I need to bring with me on the day of my exam?
Students must arrive promptly at the agreed-upon time, prepared with the items required/permitted for taking the test. In addition, you will be required to present a valid picture I.D. at the time of the exam. Cell phones are prohibited in the testing area.
What happens during my exam?
The proctor may or may not monitor a student continuously during an exam, depending on the exam format and availability of library facilities and technology. If you are not continuously monitored, the proctor will check on the exam room periodically. The proctor will enforce any time limits that are placed on the exam, as well as other rules set forth in the examination materials. Matheson Memorial Library will not be responsible for tests that are interrupted by library emergencies, power failures, or computer hardware or software failures.
What happens after I finish my exam?
All tests will be returned to the school by the library. Matheson Memorial Library will not be responsible for any completed tests once they leave the library’s possession and have been mailed back to the educational institution.
